How it works

  1. 01Pick the direction: IMEI → IMEISV or IMEISV → IMEI.
  2. 02Enter the number (and the software version for IMEISV).
  3. 03Copy the converted result.

What is the difference?

An IMEI is 14 identifying digits plus a Luhn check digit. An IMEISV keeps the same 14 digits but replaces the check digit with a 2-digit software version number (SVN), giving 16 digits.

Where you see IMEISV

Network logs, carrier portals and some diagnostic menus report the IMEISV. To check the phone's status or warranty you usually need the regular 15-digit IMEI.

Anatomy of an IMEI

Every IMEI has the same 15-digit structure. Each part tells you something different.

350020981234564
TAC#1–8

Type Allocation Code. Identifies the manufacturer and exact model. The first two digits are the reporting body.

Serial#9–14

Unique number the manufacturer assigns to this single device.

Check digit#15

Calculated from the other 14 with the Luhn formula. Catches typos.
